About Me
I know Any Body can practice Yoga.
And I believe in the power of mindfulness to bring balance, peace, and healing to our minds and bodies, and as a result to our world.
I was introduced to meditation in my twenties and shortly afterward, I discovered the physical practice of yoga. So, I’ve had the good fortune of being able to study with so many amazing teachers. But don’t let any of that fool you, I am not that “perfect yogi”. I live in an urban area. I have a day job. Within the knowledge space of yoga, I’m what’s known as a “Householder”. My yoga practice helps to enforce my resiliency while I often struggle with working too much and sleeping too little.
I completed my RYT 200 yoga teacher training in 2018 inspired by challenges I faced with chronic pain and resuming my yoga practice following compound physical trauma from major surgery, followed by a car accident. When I felt strong enough to return to my yoga practice, I found it hard to keep up with the class; I couldn't do the poses I used to be able to do. My body had changed. Even as a long-time dedicated yoga student, I was shaken for a while. But after a lot of work, both on AND off the yoga mat, I learned to adapt my practice and approach it with curiosity and mindfulness. Now, I can greet and honor the body I’m in on any given day. I’ve accepted that my practice looks different now and that it changes every day.
That journey is what inspires my approach to teaching. I teach a slower mindful practice, that emphasizes comfort and ease. In our yoga practice, I will encourage you to mindfully connect with your breath; then connect your breath with your body and your body with the mind. My classes are for anyone who may be new to yoga or on a journey to discover and adapt their yoga practice for the body they are in right now.
